ABOUT WOMEN in SCIENCE, ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE (WiSET)

The 1st WiSET was successfully organized in 2012, with the aim to identify the challenges faced by women in science, engineering and technology (SET) ; address the issues relating to Women in SET and share perspectives in devising strategies to address the imbalance of women participation in SET so as to create opportunities upon which to build the future.

Following that, the 2nd WiSET was organised in 2018.

The objectives of this conference are:

  • to engage, inspire and build the next generation of women in Science, Engineering and Technology;
  • to empower women in Science, Engineering and Technology through entrepreneurship
  • to energize future leaders and build excitement in STEM fields
  • to promote globalization and integration amongst women in Science, Engineering and Technology.

The anticipated participants of this conference would be Professionals in the field of STEM such as Scientists, Engineers and Technologists. At this conference, inspiring experiences and the secret to success among Scientists, Engineers and Technologists will be shared. It would indeed be a platform where all Professionals would look forward to.

ABOUT WOMEN ENGINEERS SECTION (WES)

The IEM Women Engineers Section (IEM-WE) was formed to connect women engineers locally & internationally and to establish strong networking between them.

It aims:

  • to encourage women engineers particularly in Malaysia to participate in Engineering activities;
  • to provide women engineers with a platform for self-development, continuous learning and contribution to the society;
  • to increase the profile of women scientists and engineers for better recognition in the workplace and empower them for their career advancement including leadership roles so that they can continue to contribute towards the prosperity and technological developments of Malaysia, ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific region.
ABOUT INWES APNN

The International Network of Women in Engineering & Science (INWES) is a global network of organizations of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), reaching over 60 countries worldwide. INWES is a not-for-profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors consisting of Directors representing organizational and individual memberships.

The International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) was established to strengthen the capacity of individuals, organizations, and corporations to influence policies in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) worldwide, and to encourage the education, recruitment, retention, support, and advancement of professional women and students through an international network of organizations and experts.

The goal of INWES is to build a better future worldwide through the full and effective participation of women and girls in all aspects of STEM.

This goal will be accomplished by:

  • becoming an influential voice on STEM issues for the benefit of women, gender equity, and society;
  • increasing the presence of women in mainstream STEM decision-making bodies;
  • promoting the exchange of information, networking, advocacy, and opportunities through a number of global and regional events and projects.

The Asia Pacific Nation Network (APNN) is a regional network with currently 8 member countries including Malaysia.

The formation of APNN was initiated with the goals to :

  • hold an Asian regional meeting of INWES;
  • increase INWES members in Asia and the Pacific Nations;
  • promote the role of women scientists and engineers in Asian and the Pacific Nations.
